Our Chickens
Pasture Raised Poultry
Our chickens are raised on lush pastures from spring till late summer. We receive our chicks from a local hatchery as day-olds and raise them until they reach butcher weight (approx. 9 weeks). While the chicks are young and require a heat lamp to keep warm, they will remain inside in a brooder. Once they reach the appropriate age and do not require heat our chickens are moved outside in chicken tractors.
Chicken Tractors
A chicken tractors is a portable coop that allows our chickens to receive fresh air and sunshine everyday. They also provide the chickens with more room to roam. We move our tractors daily to provide our birds with a fresh patch of grass. This in return encourages the chickens to scratch and scavenge for bugs. On top of what they forage for in the grass, the chickens receive a total ration chicken feed and plenty of fresh water. This enclosed tractor also keeps the chickens safe from any unwanted predators such as raccoons, birds of prey, and coyotes. Once our chickens have reached a desirable weight they are processed at a locally inspected plant.
